Danny Hazard, a dominant midfielder for the boys lacrosse team who handles the face-offs, announced his commitment to Lafayette College via Instagram on Sunday.
Hazard has been a member of the boys varsity lacrosse team since his sophomore year and controls the midfield as he won over half of his face-offs in the 2022 season. Hazard also plays for the club team Blue Star Lacrosse, where he made his name known. But after making first team All-Union County Conference, second team All-League (Fitch-Pitt division), and second team All-State, it became clear that Hazard was a player to watch.
Hazard will be joining a Lafayette squad that is focused on rebuilding, as a new coaching staff was hired just four seasons ago. Last year, Lafayette finished with a record of 4-11. Lafayette holds a spot in the Patriot League and is located in Easton, PA.
Hazard highly considered schools such as Bates and Dickinson, but what ultimately drew him to Lafayette was the new facilities and coaching staff. “Lafayette was a combination of everything I was looking for in a school,” Hazard said. “It has the great academics I wanted, high level lacrosse, and is in a great location.”
Being a school that many members of Hazard’s family previously attended, he feels as though he already has a strong idea of what it is like to be on campus and is very connected to the college.
Before officially becoming a Leopard, Hazard has one last season with the Westfield Blue Devils this spring and is looking to capitalize.
