On an unforgettable senior day at Ash Brook Golf Course, the WHS girls golf team defeated opponents Oak Knoll Royals with a score of 193-209. The girls impressively battled out their competitors, with Oak Knoll being a historically tough team to beat, ending their impressive season strong with a record of 10-4.

Throughout the match the team faced some difficulty, both due to the course and individually. Senior co-captain Lily Patel said, “I think Ashbrook Greens are really tricky sometimes, and I feel like each time we play here, there are different speeds, so gauging the speed today was a little difficult.” Senior co-captain Peyton Harrington said, “I think I struggled with my irons today, but I think I was able to pull together with my short game and we were able to pull out a win against a big rival, so it was pretty exciting.”

Despite a couple of struggles, the girls were able to pull through, led by their impressive senior line-up. Patel led the team with a score of 4-over-par 41, followed by sophomore Amaya Isom’s score of 45, junior Sadie Pitigala’s 53, senior Hayden Pfister’s 54, senior Ella Dolling’s 56, and Harrington’s score of 57. Unfortunately, senior Chloe Martin could not attend, however she has been an asset to the team throughout the season, battling through injuries to put up low scores in many previous matches.

The win ended the 2025-26 season for the Blue Devils with a 10-4 record, which was a significant accomplishment for the program. “This is our 10th win, so the most wins that the program’s ever had was 12. And the second was 10, so we tied the second best,” said head coach Kevin Everly. “Oak Knoll is usually a very good team, and to beat Oak Knoll is a nice feat, especially on senior day, where we have four seniors out here. And then we had a junior and a sophomore out here playing. I’m happy that the ladies got a good win,” he added. \

This senior day was especially memorable for the girls as it was the first time the team had participated in senior day traditions, including the underclassmen making posters for the seniors. “I’m super happy with our team this year and how good our girls have been and getting along together, but it’s super sad to be leaving them, but they’re definitely in good hands and I’m excited for them next year,” said Harrington.

Patel echoed a similar sentiment. “Time flies and I’m really going to miss this team. I’m going to miss every tradition and there’s a lot of memories that I’ll carry with me forever,” Patel said.

This match ends the season on a high note for the team, however Patel will continue her season, participating in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions on May 12 at Raritan Valley Country Club, where she looks to close out her season with success.
