On Sept. 8, senior Ava Jasina announced her commitment to play soccer at Gettysburg College via Instagram.
Jasina has been a key contributor to the Blue Devil girls soccer program, despite being injured for the 2025-26 season due to a torn ACL. However, Jasina is ready to bounce back for her senior year season, and help lead the Blue Devils to success.
Located in Borough Pennsylvania, Gettysburg college competes in the Centennial Conference of NCAA Division III, finishing their 2025-26 season with a 4-5-1 conference record, and 7-9-3 record overall. Rebecca Quimby is currently leading the team as Gettysburg’s head coach for her second consecutive year.
For Jasina, familiar faces and the scene of campus is what reeled her into Gettysburg. “I knew a lot of people that had committed to Gettysburg for sports from Westfield, including one of my former teammates, 2025 WHS graduate Brooke Morrison. I had visited campus before for soccer tournaments, so it felt familiar to me.”
Senior Emilie Cadigan emphasized Jasina’s commitment to the team and energy even when she was absent from the field last season. “Despite Ava being on the sideline, her energy was contagious, always being the loudest person cheering, as well being an upperclassmen people could confide in.”
Jasina’s first goal back in the season opener for the 2026-27 season against Elizabeth, was one her proudest personal achievements in her athletic career, as it highlighted her determination to return to the field, stronger and better than ever.
Girls soccer head coach, Alex Schmidt said, “Ava is super coachable, loves the game and is very much a student of the game. One of her best qualities is her ability to ask questions and communicate with us coaches.”
Although Jasina is prepared and ready to start a new beginning at Gettysburg she will without a doubt miss the culture of the WHS girls soccer program. “The most special part about our team is the bond and team chemistry we all have with one another, on and off the field,” she said.
“Ava is the type of player who is selfless with the ball, always looking for the smart play, not just when she can score. She produces lots of opportunities for other players in our top line,” Cadigan added.
With Jasina’s senior season already in motion, she is excited to help lead the team to another chance at a state title.
