Standout right-side hitter and co-captain Jessica Currie announced her commitment to Dickinson College on Thursday via Instagram.

Standing at 5 feet 10 inches, Currie uses her height to her advantage on the court. She has recorded 3 blocks on the season as well as 58 kills, which is top-five on the team. She also has great court vision, which helped Westfield win the Union County Tournament  and obtain the top seed in the upcoming sectional tournament.

Allie DiFalco, senior defensive specialist and co-captain, has really enjoyed playing with Currie for five years. DiFalco said, “Jess brings a fun and encouraging energy on and off the court every single day.” DiFalco added, “She is both the glue, and moral guy that every team needs. When someone is down, Jess is the first person to bring their spirit back up.”

Currie will be joining a Red Devils team that finished 14-10 last season at the Division III level and holds a 12-10 record this season. Currie will look to help the Red Devils improve and work toward the ultimate goal of a Division III national title.

When it came down to deciding between schools, Currie found it to be an easy decision. “I had already toured the school prior to even talking about playing volleyball, and loved it. It was everything I wanted in a college.” She added, “When I went to visit for a second time for a recruiting trip, I got to meet some of the girls and the coaches. They were so welcoming and I clicked with them right away.”

Currie has her priorities set while she still has the chance in high school. She made it clear that she wants to win the state sectional championship after falling just short last season. She and the other girls have been working extremely hard to improve their games in order to achieve Currie’s final goal as a Blue Devil.
