Senior Liam Maurillo announced his commitment to Davidson College Sunday night via Instagram.

Maurillo, a captain for both the cross country, winter and spring track teams, will be joining the Wildcats in the Fall of 2023. Last Spring, he was a member of the history-making 4×800 relay team, setting not only a school record, but a Group 4 record.

Maurillo is currently gearing up for his final winter track season as a Blue Devil. “The goal is to win another state championship,” said Maurillo. “Individually, I would like to place top five in the 800 and win the 4×800 at the Meet of Champions.”

Maurillo was deciding between Davidson and Colgate, but ultimately ended up choosing Davidson. “I wanted a smaller school, for a more intimate learning environment.” He also added that Davidson “had exactly what I was looking for.”

When speaking about what he will miss most about the Westfield cross country and track programs, he said “definitely the camraderie and the friendships I’ve built here.”

Maurillo will join the Atlantic 10 Conference for the 2023-24 season.
