Senior captain Bianca Vesuna announced her commitment on July 22 to continue her tennis career at Bryn Mawr College via Instagram.
Four-year girls varsity tennis player, Vesuna, is a singles player for the Westfield team. Outside of playing for the Blue Devils, Vesuna is a member of the Westfield Tennis Club and participates on their club team.
Senior co-captain, Nataile Debowski said, “[Vesuna] contributes so much to the team, she makes the community and the tennis team a much better place. She is always bringing the team together through her positive encouragement.”
Bryn Mawr College is located near Philadelphia, PA. and is an all-girls, private liberal arts school. The school was founded in 1885 and is one of the “Seven Sister” colleges, a group of historic women’s colleges in the United States.
Vesuna said, “I knew I wanted to play tennis in college since my freshman year of high school. Being a part of a team was definitely a new experience since tennis is more of an individualistic sport.”
Through her college search, Vesuna found a school that is the perfect fit for her, she said, “When I visited, I really felt at home, everyone was super inclusive and it was a small school near New Jersey.”
With the school’s 31 percent acceptance rate and rigorous academics, Vesuna looks to carry her smarts and athleticism to the Bryn Mawr College community.
Vesuna will join the Bryn Mawr College tennis team in the fall of 2025. She will compete as a Division III athlete of the NCAA. The Bryn Mawr College tennis team ended their 2023-24 season with an overall singles record of 46-47 and a doubles overall record of 25-22.
Debowski said, “After knowing [Vesuna] for many years, I have not just seen her grow on the court, but as a person too, especially her confidence and openness.”
Vesuna is looking to finish off this tennis season on a positive note and lead the team to another final round of the North 2, Group 4 sectional tournament.
