Quinn Wojcik, a senior goalkeeper for the boys lacrosse team, is an elite shot blocker as well as a strong communicator who is able to lead his team to crunch-time victories. He announced his commitment to Loyola University Maryland via Instagram on Sunday.
Wojcik has been a member of the boys varsity lacrosse team since his sophomore year and most recently was named co-captain of the team in his senior season. Wojcik ended his junior season with a total of 160 saves, many coming in clutch moments as his team took several games to overtime. In the offseason, Wojcik also plays club lacrosse for Blue Star Lacrosse.
Wojcik racked up a ton of accolades after his junior year and will only look to add more by the end of his senior season. After the 2022 season, Wojcik received second-team All-State and first-team All-Union County honors. He was also named to the nj.com All-Junior team.
Wojcik will be joining the Greyhounds next fall. Loyola competes in the Patriot League as it is a Division I program. Last year, the Greyhounds finished with a record of 8-8 while also taking down No. 9 ranked Duke. Loyola is located in Baltimore, Maryland, and is a Jesuit school regarded for its academic prestige.
Ohio State, Richmond and Villanova were other schools that Wojcik was considering to further his academic future. However, Wojcik was not certain just a few months ago if he would be continuing his athletic career at the next level.
“I had a change of heart this winter to play for another four years,” said Wojcik. “I would not have forgiven myself if I decided not to play in college.”
Fortunately, Wojcik was drawn to Loyola and realized that it is the school where he wants to continue his lacrosse career. Wojcik chose Loyola “because of Coach Toomey and the amazing facilities they have.”
Wojcik is looking forward to finishing out his senior season at WHS, where his team currently holds a 2-2 record. So far this season, Wojcik has had 44 saves and looks to lead his team to another Union County Tournament finals appearance.
