Chloe Wiedman, a junior outside hitter on the reigning Group 4 girls volleyball championship team, announced her commitment to Franklin & Marshall College last week.

“It’s been a goal of mine to play volleyball at the collegiate level ever since I first started playing [volleyball] in second grade,” Wiedman said.

This past fall, Wiedman’s contributions greatly helped the Blue Devils to both a Union County Tournament and a Group 4 championship, along with a near perfect record of 24-1. Wiedman tallied 20 kills, 169 digs, 128 service points and 25 aces. Her unique skill set will be a huge addition to the Diplomats when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2024.

Some of the other schools that recruited Wiedman were Dickinson, Ursinus, Gettysburg, Muhlenberg and a few other schools. But, ultimately, Wiedman decided to commit to F&M because she “loved the size of the school, the team chemistry, and the level of academics,” she said.

Franklin & Marshall is located in Lancaster, PA, and competes at the Division III level in the Centennial Conference. This past volleyball season, F&M finished as runners up in its conference tournament after suffering a 3-1 loss to Johns Hopkins in the conference championship. The Diplomats ended their 2022 season with an overall record of 18-9 and a 10-2 conference record.

This upcoming volleyball season, Wiedman and Westfield hope to use this year’s momentum to make another run at county and state titles. But for now, Wiedman hopes to get to know her new teammates better as Westfield will have to replace five key seniors.

“Something that I’m most looking forward to during my senior year of volleyball is forming a strong bond with my teammates and just having a fun season,” she said.

Hopefully a fun season will include another ring on her finger.
