Audra Toth, junior defender for the WHS girls soccer team, announced her commitment to Bucknell University on Nov. 8 via Instagram.
Toth is the fourth member of this year’s team to announce their commitment to play in college.
Bucknell is a private liberal arts university founded in 1846. Originally founded as Lewisburg University, the university was renamed in 1886 to honor William Bucknell. With an acceptance rate of 35 percent, it is seen as a selective institution.
Toth will join Bucknell in the fall of 2025, competing for their Division I soccer team. Bucknell University is a part of the Patriot League Conference and finished this season with a 12-4-5 record, making it all the way to the first round of the NCAA tournament.
On the field, Toth brings a lot of intensity, passion and leadership that keep her team driven and motivated whether they are up by a goal, down by a goal or even tied. These traits helped the Blue Devils win the Group 4 state championship in their 2021-22’ season and a North 2, Group 4 sectional championship this season, where they were ultimately defeated in the state semifinals.
Senior wing Sofia Gesser explained, “Audra is a great leader. She always brings a lot of energy and competitiveness to the field and the team. She’s a huge asset on defense and we are all super proud of her.”
This high school season, Toth recorded three goals and three assists for a total of 9 points, with multiple of these points coming in one singular game, something that is uncommon for a defensive player. She also plays for a club team, FC Copa Academy, which partakes in the Elite Club National League where she led her team to a national championship win.
Despite interest from multiple other schools, Toth ultimately decided on Bucknell because “it fit all of my criteria. I loved the experience when I went and slept over with the girls on the team. I felt very comfortable there and I knew that was immediately where I wanted to be for four years. I went home and told my mom that I felt like I was with my friends the entire time and how I was so comfortable, laughing around and making jokes. I felt like I was at home.”
Before she joins the Bison, Toth will lead the Blue Devils as a senior candidate for captain in her final season, looking to advance the Blue Devils to more tournament wins and new hardware.
