Senior Jack Graham announced his commitment to Marymount College to play volleyball on Nov. 13 via Instagram. He will be majoring in Health Sciences.

“My deciding factor for Marymount was definitely the campus,” Graham said. “Just visiting, I knew that I was going to love going there. I also really loved the team, and the coach was super welcoming.”

From the second he got there, it stood out to Graham. Over the years, Graham has developed into a key contributor for the WHS boys volleyball team.

Graham has been a three year varsity player and earned a starting spot junior year. Each year, he has gotten better and stepped into more of a leadership role. He is looking forward to having a strong senior year.

Graham has goals for both his final year for the Blue Devils and his collegiate career. “My goals are to get to 500 career digs this season, and I also believe we have a good chance at winning a state championship,” he said. “We placed second in a preseason tournament, beating multiple top-20 teams, and we are ready to make a run.”

At the next level, Graham hopes to make an impact right away while also getting a great education. “My goals for the next four years are to find my way into the starting lineup and get my education while doing so,” he said, emphasizing the importance of his academics and not just volleyball.

Marymount is a small Catholic school in Arlington, Virginia. They are a NCAA Division III school that competes in the Atlantic East Conference. The school offers a perfect mix of academics and sports, which will allow Graham to thrive.

Senior teammate Ben Bukiet-Beker has witnessed Graham’s growth over the past few years. “Jack has become a much smarter defender,” Beker said.  “His positioning has really improved, and that’s helped take his defense to another level.”

Bukiet-Beker added that Graham has been committed from the start. He puts in a lot of extra work and he has always been striving to improve as a player and as a person.

Graham will be moving on to Marymount next year, but he definitely has left his mark and will be looking to lead the team for one more championship run.
