This Saturday, Gary Kehler Stadium was flooded with Westfield athletes as they received the Group 4 ShopRite Cup for the previous school year.

The ShopRite Cup is given to six different high schools annually, four public schools and two private. This is Westfield’s second time winning the cup, the first time being in 2010.

Westfield was awarded the ShopRite Cup due to state championships from girls basketball, girls soccer, girls swimming and boys track.

Thirteen total programs reached at least the semifinals of their state tournament, making the 2021-22 school year a massive success for the Blue Devils.

The award was accepted on behalf of all Westfield athletes by WHS Athletic Director Sandy Mamary.

“This award means a lot,” senior John McDonald said. “It shows all the hard work and dedication we have put in over the years trying to get recognition. The girls teams are killing it winning state championships and the boys teams are close. It shows a lot about our future too.”
