Westfield senior tennis player Tristan Wroe announced his commitment to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday via Instagram.
Wroe is listed as a 2-star recruit and ranked 21st in New Jersey by Tennis Recruiting Network. Wroe is part of a Westfield tennis team that finished last season 19-4 and first in the Union County Conference. Wroe holds 13 wins over the last two seasons and helped his team to two consecutive North 2, Group 4 sectional final victories.
“Feels great knowing that after all the work I put in, I can still competitively play for another four years in college,” said Wroe.
Stevens is a Division III university and is part of the Middle Atlantic Freedom conference. Stevens finished last season atop its conference with an overall record of 14-5 and an undefeated conference record of 6-0. The Ducks have also won the last two MAC Freedom conference championships and will take a shot at a third this upcoming season.
“I chose to go to Stevens because its campus, size, location, athletics and programs are all ideal. I can live [the] college life that I dreamed of,” said Wroe.
Wroe now looks ahead to the spring season where he hopes to make a strong finish to his final year of Westfield tennis.
