Erin Hazard, a senior defender for the girls varsity lacrosse team, announced her commitment to Trinity College on July 3 via Instagram.
Hazard, a multi-sport athlete is a versatile and effective player as well as an encouraging and supportive teammate. In addition to lacrosse, Hazard is a left back on the varsity soccer team and a captain for the upcoming season.
Senior Emma Blake, Hazard’s high school and club teammate says, “[Hazard] is everything you would want in a teammate and more. She is beyond talented, knowledgeable, always a leader and looking for ways to improve herself and her teammates.”
The Trinity commit has been on the girls varsity lacrosse team since her freshman year, growing as a vital defensive player while also contributing to the offensive side with impactful goals and assists.
As Hazard gets ready to join the Bantams, a Division III program that competes in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, she looks forward to “furthering her academic and athletic career while meeting new people and exploring a new chapter of life in a new place.”
Trinity College is a private liberal arts college located in Hartford, CT. with roughly 2,200 undergraduate students according to the usnews.com. Academics played a huge role in Hazard’s decision as she knew she always wanted an academically challenging school where she could also play lacrosse. She found that Trinity was the perfect balance.
Hazard was interested in all of the NESCAC schools but Trinity stood out because of, “the atmosphere on and off the field.” She added that, “the team and coaches bring such a positive energy to everything they do, and they made me feel so welcomed.” Trinity went 9-9 this past season, scoring a total of 209 goals.
Hazard looks to bring her leadership and positive energy to the Bantams, while also giving the team all her effort lacrosse wise. Blake emphasized how “[Hazard] brings such a positive energy to all teams that she is a part of and is who everyone goes to when they need a little motivation.”
Head coach for the girls varsity lacrosse team, Kathryn Dasilva, is confident Hazard will be highly successful as she described the way she plays as, “contagious to her defensive unit.” Dasilva included that Hazard’s IQ of the game, ability to read plays and take action is what contributes to the teams success.
Before she heads to Hartford, Hazard is excited to “bring leadership and intensity” to her final season with the Blue Devils.
