Standout junior swimmer Emily Constable has committed to Vanderbilt University. Constable announced her commitment on Thursday, via instagram.
Constable enters her junior year a state champion and the seventh-ranked girls swimmer in New Jersey, according to Swimcloud.com. As a member of the 2021-2022 WHS Girls swim team, Constable helped the girls towards an undefeated season and a No. 1 seed in the state tournament.
In the state championship, Constable, along with teammates Erin McKinney, Abby Bebel, and senior captain Lauren Lane, took first in the 200-yard medley relay and first in the 200-yard freestyle with teammates Brooke McAndrew, Abby Bebel, and Duke commit Clare Logan.
Constable also placed first in the individual 100-yard breaststroke, and second in the 200-yard individual medley. In September of 2021, she was named to the Scholastic All-America team.
“Emily is a huge part of the team. Her energy and drive has always been an asset to the swim team, and I know that it will continue as she moves onto Vanderbilt” said Lane.
Constable joins a 4-3 Vanderbilt swim team that currently ranks last in points in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Vanderbilt has finished 12th out of 12 teams in the SEC championship in each of the past four seasons. With recruits like Constable, Vanderbilt starts their journey towards building for a more successful future.
When it came to deciding her future, Constable found it to be an easy decision. “I knew Vanderbilt was definitely on the top of my list,” said Constable. “I took a visit and committed because of the combination of top level academics, a motivated team, and its dedication to success for their student athletes”.
Constable joins teammates Logan and Lane (Loyola University Maryland) as the third Blue Devil to commit this year for swimming. She now looks to match last year’s success with her upcoming junior campaign.
