Senior Daniel Hanlon, an elite football player, has committed to Muhlenberg College. Hanlon also plays lacrosse at WHS.

Hanlon is an avid linebacker who is acknowledged for his dominance throughout this season and was one of the Blue Devils’ sack leaders. Hanlon was a varsity starter in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, being in the nightmares of quarterbacks across the state. While also being a powerhouse for the Blue Devils, Hanlon made sure to exhibit good leadership qualities as well in order to carry the Westfield football legacy forward.

“We had a really good season this year because we worked on our strength and had each other’s backs,” Hanlon said. “I knew this year was our chance to prove ourselves so I made sure to leave it all on the field.”

Hanlon will be joining Muhlenberg next fall, a private liberal arts college that competes at the Division III level in the Centennial Conference. Muhlenberg is located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and is a strong football school, ending last season with a 7-4 record and taking fourth place in its conference.

“I chose Muhlenberg because I really connected well with the team and everyone was really welcoming when I first arrived,” said Hanlon. “I also really liked the coaches because they were open and determined to have an even more successful team next fall.”

Hanlon’s athleticism allows him to be one of the most talented Westfield athletes. His size along with his quick speed and strength made him a standout in football and an important player in lacrosse.

Hanlon owes much of his football success and achievements to the Westfield football program and coaches because “the Westfield football program has been a home for me for so many years and they have taught me valuable lessons I hope to carry into college as well. The coaches especially have always been there for me, and I can’t thank them enough.”

The Westfield football program is dedicated to helping athletes improve to the best of their ability and strives at assisting athletes with the recruitment process. With this outstanding help, Hanlon was able to achieve one of his biggest goals and is super grateful.

Hungry for victory, Hanlon is more determined than ever to make a statement at Muhlenberg and show his true potential as a player. “I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and getting to know the coaches even more,” he said. “I can’t wait to continue these Blue Devil traditions of success in college.”
